Primary Goals
The primary goals of the McDonough County Democratic Women’s organization is to:
- Challenge all our members to be strong, visible, verbal anti-racist, pro-LGBTQ+ allies to all marginalized and under-represented groups of people
- oppose all forms of ableism, bigotry, homophobia, sexism, transphobia, white supremacy, xenophobia, science denial-ism, and fascism
- strengthen participation of liberal women and girls in all levels of civic engagement
- promote awareness of the basics of public policy-making at local, state, and federal levels
- promote inter-sectional, culturally-competent awareness of democratic party principles, goals, methods, structure, procedures, traditions, and history
- promote progressive, inter-sectional, feminist democratic principles, policies, events, services, organizations and people
- connect party members to each other, to the state and national party, and to allies
- be of direct service to those in need in our communities
- challenge abuses of power and authority
- raise community expectations for performance and services of public officials and employees
